The mission of the Young People's Opera Society of BC (YPOSBC) is to provide affordable opportunities for youth to learn about, participate in, and sing opera at a community level.

The Mission of the Young peoples' Opera Society is to provide opportunities for children and youth to learn about, participate in and sing Opera at a community level. In addition to providing family entertainment, YPOS teaches the performers classical opera skills, including voice, drama and dance. Productions revolve around family and community, creating inter-generational teamwork.
Young People's Opera enriches participants and audiences alike our organization trains young voices and gives our young members a say in how the society moves forward through mentoring and leadership. Studies have shown that when children and young people who study and perform music are "nurtured they grow as musicians and people". Audiences exit performances refreshed and renewed.
Young people and opera together can transform the way a community sees itself and how others see it. Children bring their natural joy and curiosity. These combined with energy and training instill life-long skills such as sharing, discipline, reliability and commitment as well as confidence, self-esteem and a greater sense of community. We train tomorrow"s leaders.
